2025 Support Request Letter

This is the third year of sending our annual “Hello” letter.  We are a one-of-a-kind support and educational group for widows only. Our Good Grief Support Groups have been meeting weekly since 2016 in Belfair, Washington, and for over one year in both Shelton and Bremerton locations.   No one understands a widow like another widow.   

The Good Grief Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 2022 to enhance our purpose through applying for grants and seeking donations.

Most ladies will lose 40% of their income when they become a widow.  This adjustment compounds their grief process.  Our Foundation is proud to offer a financial partnership for one-of-a-kind challenges, such as legal advice, moving expenses, home repair, medical needs and even firewood.  Good Grief pays directly to the provider of services, leaving a reduced responsibility for the widow.  To date this year, we have helped nine widows for a total of approximately $5000.  The average distribution is $400 per widow in assistance.

The number of widows participating in Good Grief is flexible, however we have a solid basis of sixty from all three locations.  Our hope is to add two more locations next year.

Our operating budget is kept to a minimum.  No one receives a salary from our organization or for being active board members.  The more widows we serve, the more there are widows who have needs, and the more funds we need to help.

Please consider assisting one widow with your $400 donation toward the one-time cost of repairs, professional services, medical needs, replacing appliances and such.  If you’d like, you can specify what sort of need you would like to assist in resolving.  Donations can be made through our website (www.supportgoodgrief.org) or by writing a check to Good Grief and mailing it in the enclosed envelope.  A donation receipt will be sent to you.  Any amount is an amount we currently do not have to help a widow in need.
